Bookish Offerings for the Holidays

The holidays are quickly approaching and I couldn’t let the moment pass without reminding you of some bookish gift ideas! If you have a preteen girl or a teen/young adult in your life, these books would make great stocking stuffers.

Bloom Devotional Series

Bloom is a devotional series for girls ages 9-14 that helps them grow in all their important relationships in life: with God (Book 1), with friends and family (Book 2), and with their community (Book 3). Each book contains 90 devotions and is perfect for personal use or as a group study. And seriously, those covers still make me swoon! What girl wouldn’t be excited to see that in their stocking on Christmas morning?!

The books do not have to be read in order, but can be used in whatever order is most helpful for the young lady in your life!

Change the Conversation

Change the Conversation is a book sharing my perspective on dating and the church and my experiences with purity culture. Designed to be a conversation starter for teens/young adults, this quick read will provoke the reader to reexamine their priorities and motivations when it comes to dating. Includes a chapter specifically for guys written by my husband!

As always, there are YouVersion plans for all of these books if you want to experience them in a different way.

Happy reading!

Bloom Series: Christmas Gifts for Girls

Bible study for girls

The Christmas season is upon us! If you’re looking for a special gift for the young girl in your life, may I humbly offer the Bloom devotional series? Bloom is a three-book series for girls ages 9-14 that follows the spiritual development of a young believer from the inside out. Each book contains 90 devotions that include a short reading, a scripture, and then a prayer or action step. This series is great for girls to do on their own, with a parent, or in a small-group setting.

This year more than ever has shown us more than ever how crucial developing a habit of being in God’s word can anchor us in the craziest of times. But don’t forget about the kids! What a perfect time to help them develop a habit of spending time with God as they learn to deal with the unknowns of every-changing school arrangements, missing family members, and dealing with grief. As you are building and refining your own habits, equip the young girls in your life to build their own relationship with the Lord.

  • Bloom Book 1: Focuses on a girl’s relationship with the Lord and who He is
  • Bloom Book 2: Focuses on building healthy family and friend relationships
  • Bloom Book 3: Focuses on a girl’s impact in her community

Bloom Book 3 is One!

Bloom Book 3 is one today! The last year has flown by and it’s been so wonderful getting to share this third book in the Bloom series with all of you. If you’re looking for a Bible study for some young girls in your life, these books are a great place to start!

Bible study for girls

If you’re new around here or new to the Bloom books, welcome! Bloom is a three-book devotional series for girls ages 9-14. Mirroring the growth of flowers, the series starts in Book 1 with a girl’s relationship with God and blooms outward in Book 2 (friends and family relationships and Book 3 (community relationships). While that’s the design of the books, they can certainly be read in any order.

Friends, these are indeed strange times. Let us not forget that time spent in God’s word will keep us grounded no matter what life throws at us. But guess what? Kids need to know that too. And I believe with all my heart these books will encourage your daughter, your granddaughter, niece, student, or neighbor to sink her roots into God during this pandemic. You’re not just buying another book. You’re helping to equip the young girls in your life with truth and peace for years to come.

Peace to you and yours!

How Amazon Reviews Helps Authors

how amazon reviews help authors

Thank you again for all your support with the release of Bloom Book 3. I couldn’t do it without you. This series has been four years in the making and it’s so crazy to see the writing and releasing part of the journey come to end. I hope the books have been a blessing to the young girls in your life! If you’re finished reading any or all of the books and are wondering how else you can engage with and support the book, consider leaving a review on Amazon. How do Amazon reviews help authors?

How Amazon Reviews Help Authors

We all use reviews to help us make good decisions for our families: from restaurants to products, to technology, we use other people’s opinions and experiences to help shape our experiences.

It’s no different when it comes to finding good books, especially good books for your kids. It’s hard to sift through all the material out there, so if you been reading through the book with your kid, if they keep dog-earring the pages, consider leaving some helpful comments on Amazon. You don’t have to write a novel, but just a few words that will help other parents make good choices for their kids. Even just a star review helps us authors out.

Your reviews also help more than you realize behind the scenes in the “Amazon algorithm workshop.” Just one review helps me climb in the rankings on Amazon! Which means that more readers can have the opportunity to enjoy the books, just like you have. The rankings are not the goal in and of themself, but about helping more readers discover encouragement and truth.
